ALF (psychology)

ALF (acceptance, love, family) is a group therapy model designed for children of family separation or divorce. The name is based on the television character of Alf. In this model, two therapists work with a child, with one wearing the Alf costume and the other acting as Alf's foil. This group therapy model is used to help children cope with the loss of their family.
