Kentucky Basketball Developmental League

Kentucky Basketball Developmental League

The Kentucky Basketball Developmental League (also KBDL), formerly known as the Kentucky International Basketball Association (KIBA), is a basketball league based in Kentucky (United States). Its stated goal is to be a minor league to develop American basketball players for professional basketball outside the United States. To that end, the KBDL uses FIBA rules.

The KIBA began play in June 2006 with four teams:
*Mountain Blazers (Hazard, Kentucky)
*American Bulldogs (Hopkinsville, Kentucky)
*Louisville Lightning
*River City Gamblers (Shively, Kentucky)

In July, 2006, the KIBA became the KBDL - Kentucky Basketball Developmental League and expanded
*Southern Indiana Generals, Scott Schoen, Coach (Elizabeth, Indiana)
*Central Kentucky Express, Larry Tiller, Coach (Irvine, Kentucky)
*Hazard Shooting Stars (Deleted 2008)
*RiverCity Gamblers, Maurice "Mo" Smith, Coach (Louisville, Kentucky)
*Thoroughbreds, Steve Miller, Coach (Lexington, Kentucky)
*Lancers, Kevin Ellery, Coach (Lebanon, Kentucky)the 2009 season will see teams in Cincinnati, Ohio - Huntington West Virginia - Indianapolis, Indiana - and Nashville, Tennessee as KBDL expands and reaches out for new talents and teams.
