History
Acronis, founded in 2001, is a privately held company[10]. Originally focused on disk partitioning and boot loader software, they moved towards backup and disaster recovery by utilizing disk imaging technology. Their flagship product line was Acronis True Image until 2009, at which time it was replaced in the corporate environment by Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.
In July 2003, Acronis appointed Synapsys Systems (Pty)[11] Ltd as their authorized distributor in South Africa.
Products
Acronis provides backup, disaster recovery, and partitioning software for both the home, and small and medium enterprises. Their core focus is working with disk blocks, which provides the technology for additional products such as system deployment and disk partitioning.

In June 2011, Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 (ABR)[12] was released, an enhancement of the previous Acronis Backup & Recovery 10, which replaced their previous flagship product, True Image Echo. ABR provides disaster recovery, backup, and storage management solutions, and covers the following range of products:
