[http://www.hill16.ie/viewstoryhill16.asp?mainheading=Word+on+The+Hill&id=8423&viewstory=yes] O'Carroll helped guide Dublin to victory in the 2005Leinster Minor Hurling Championship by scoring one point in the game. [http://www.hill16.ie/viewstoryhill16.asp?mainheading=Word+on+The+Hill&id=5310&viewstory=yes] . O'Carroll attended Oatland College in Stillorgan. O'Carroll is the older brother of Dublin minor dualstarRory O'Carroll . He won theLeinster Under-21 Hurling Championship with Dublin agaainst Offaly inJuly 2007 . It was Dublins first Under-21 trophy since 1972.Ross has caused a stir in Dublin GAA circles by announcing that he will take 3 months off next summer to travel around America. Ross acquired a taste for travelling this summer when he took a brief but fruitful trip to New York with fellow dual star Tomás Brady. Committees of both Hurling and Football at his club, Kilmacud Crokes, are up in arms about the decision. A statement released by the club described Ross's decision as ' one that represents self-serving interests, punitive action must be taken '. Tommy Naughton refused to comment when approached by 'The Irish Times'. The jury is certainly out but will the public hysteria asphyxiated on the young UCD student alter this colossal decision?
Ross posted a laconic blog on his own private social networking site.' I didn't realize such a decision would cause grief and discontent within GAA circles, I ask for the scrutiny hitherto generated to cease. My decision is final, a sabbatical is exactly what I need.'
Ross has also confirmed that he attributes his new lease of life to his recent girlfriend, for legal purposes she will remain anonymous. Ross hasn't been seen by close friends of his in weeks and he has become increasingly boring. Let's just say, if you want a conversation with him about Crokes managers, he's your man.
