He was the member of the Siamese Royal Family (later Thailand). He created The House of Chitrabhongse (ราชสกุลจิตรพงศ์), which is the descent family from the Chakri Dynasty. He was given the rank The Prince Narisara Nuvativongse by his elder brother, King Chulalongkorn of Siam (originally as "Krom Khun").

Prince Chithcaroen was called the Divine Guru, Siam's Great Artist. Among his artistic creations is Wat Benchamabophit, the Marble Temple. The image of Indra riding Erawan on the seal of Bangkok is also his work. His centennial in 1963 was associated by UNESCO.
