"Shawty" has thus far peaked at number nine on the "Billboard" Hot 100, making the single Plies' first top ten hit single on the "Billboard" Hot 100 as well as
T-Pain 's fifth and his first as a featured artist. This is Plies' second most successful single after Bust It Baby, Pt. 2, and T-Pain's fifth successful single, trailing behind "I'm Sprung ". T-Pain and Plies' new single hit the stores July 11, 2007. "Shawty" is a recent African-American term for "Baby," but has evolved in the urban hip-hop/pop world to be a term for a mutual friend.ex.
