"Tall in the Trap" is a 1962 Tom and Jerry cartoon directed by Gene Deitch.

Plot

Jerry is "Wanted for Cheese Rustlin'" in Texas. Tom happens to be travelling near the city where Jerry is wreaking havoc. After he is seen travelling and minding his own business, he drove on rollerskates to sheriff's office, due to tripping over a rock (and eventually crashlanding). He gives the sheriff his card and is hired to catch Jerry.

When Tom and Jerry meet, they both take out their guns. Tom starts to chase after Jerry, but Jerry manages to get into a tiny saloon, "Jerry's Hide Out Saloon." Tom later flicks the door open to grab Jerry, but grabs a small bag of what seems to be flour.

The light is turned back on, and when Tom turns his head, the gun is pointing at him. From there, Jerry shoots him. Then Tom chases him yet again. Jerry makes it into a mousehole with perfect timing. Tom takes out a mousetrap, puts cheese on it, puts it in the hole, and listens for a snap when Jerry comes out and brings Tom's tail inside. Jerry puts Tom's tail in the mousetrap, and Tom runs off screaming.

Back at the Dry Gulp General Store, there is one slice of Swiss cheese left. Tom exits with a barrel, and cigar ashes ignite flames that follow the trai to Tom and the barrel. Even though the barrel was underwater where Tom stopped, when the ashes got close enough, the barrel exploded, and the sheriff's office was destroyed. Then the sheriff got angry at Tom and started chasing and trying to shoot Tom.

Moments later, Jerry takes the last piece of cheese from the Dry Gulp and runs off.

Trivia

*Before the MGM logo, an opening teaser appears about the owner of the general store telling Tom to chase Jerry. Then, the logo appears as a Wanted poster with a cartoon lion on it.

*The business card Tom presents to the sheriff has a picture of a chess knight with the words "Have Trap. Will Travel." This is a reference to "Have Gun, Will Travel".
