Giles Ian Henderson CBE, born
20 April 1942 inSouth Africa , is the present Master ofPembroke College, Oxford .Gaining his
Bachelor of Arts degree atMichaelhouse ,University of the Witwatersrand , Henderson became Senior Mackinnon Scholar atMagdalen College, Oxford , where he gained his MA and BCL). He received theFulbright Award fromUniversity of California, Berkeley in 1966-67.Henderson joined
Slaughter and May in 1968 and was admitted Solicitor in 1970. He became a Partner in 1975 and a Senior Partner in 1993, and was one of HM Government's most important advisers on the process of privatisation and a member of theHampel Committee . He was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by HM The Queen in 1992, and became Master ofPembroke College, Oxford on1 July 2001. Since 2007 he has been Chair of the Conference of Colleges.Among his other appointments, Henderson is Chairman of the
UK-China Forum law group,non-executive director of Land Securities REIT andStandard Life , and Senior Member of Oxford University Golf Club.He married Lynne Fyfield on
21 August 1971. They have two sons, a daughter, and two dogs called Ellie and Gracie.External links
