(1982)"Paris" is the seventh
album byprogressive rock bandSupertramp , released in 1980 (see1980 in music )."Paris" was recorded on Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" tour in November 1979 in Paris, France at the
Pavillon de Paris , a venue which was once a slaughterhouse. The album's setlist contains almost all of "Crime of the Century" (except for "If Everyone Was Listening"), three songs from "
Crisis? What Crisis? ", two from "Even in the Quietest Moments ", three from "Breakfast in America " plus one new track "You Started Laughing" (originally the B-side to the track "Lady" from "Crisis? What Crisis?"). The whole show was recorded but the songs "Give a Little Bit", "Goodbye Stranger", "Even in the Quietest Moments", "Downstream", "Just A Normal Day" and "Another Man's Woman" were deleted from the album due to time constraints in order to make "Paris" a double album. The "Paris" album was originally going to be called "Roadworks".
"Paris" reached #8 on the Billboard Pop Albums Charts in late 1980 and went Gold immediately.and the live version of "Dreamer" hit the US Top 20.
In July 2006, the original master tapes of the album were rediscovered in the barn of the band's drummer
Bob Siebenberg , along with video footage, not seen since the time of recording. The tapes were sent to Cups 'N Strings Studios inSanta Monica ,California , for digital remastering. The tapes were initially in bad technical shape, but were successfully transferred. The video will be sent toPeter Clifton , the creator of Led Zeppelin's 1973 concert film The Song Remains the Same, inNew Zealand , for further editing. No plans of a DVD release are official as of yet, but probable, as it is a rare and previously unseen document of the absolute
salad days of the band. However, a remastered CD version of the original album was released on July 30, 2002.
