Nina Pineda (born 1968 and raised in Uniontown, PA) is a reporter for WABC-TV in New York City. Pineda can be seen faithfully on the evening editions of ‘’Eyewitness News’’.
Pineda joined the ‘’Eyewitness News’’ team in October 2000 as a general assignment reporter. Before coming to New York, she worked for WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1996-2000. Her career as a broadcast journalist began as the AFTRA Reporter Trainee for WTTG the Fox affiliate in Washington DC.
Before becoming a journalist, Pineda was in Public Relations and worked for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington DC managing and planning parties and events. She also interned on Capitol Hill for the Governor of New York. In 1992-93, Pineda worked for the Presidential Inaugural Committee on President Bill Clinton's inauguration handling performing artists such as U2, Bob Dylan and REM for the concerts and inaugural balls.
She was one of the first reporters on the scene to cover the most tragic story in American History- The attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The Smithsonian Museum requested the suit and shoes Pineda wore during her reports that day to be part of the museum's permanent exhibit chronicling 9/11. They are on display along with a video loop of Pineda's live reports from Ground Zero, the coverage helped earn ABC News a prestigious Peabody Award for Excellence in Journalism.
Nina Pineda has gained national recognition covering the black-out in New York City on the ABC News program 20/20 and reporting live from New Orleans covering Hurricane Katrina for the "Live with Regis and Kelly show".
Ever since working at Channel 7 Eyewitness News, Pineda has gained a rising amount of fame and popularity. An award-winning journalist for WABC-TV, Nina Pineda has achieved success in New York.
Pineda currently reports for the Consumer Advocate Unit "7 on Your Side" for WABC-TV.
