binomial_authority = (Mori,1928 )"Thymallus yaluensis" is a
species offreshwater fish in thesalmon family (familySalmonidae ) of orderSalmoniformes . The species has been reported inKorea ,Siberia , theAlps inEurope , and the northernMississippi River drainage inNorth America ."T. yaluensis" reaches a maximum recorded length of 20 cm (8 in), the smallest of the "Thymallus" species.
There is some confusion about the classification of "T. yaluensis." Very similar in form to the
Arctic grayling ("T. arcticus"), it may be identical to the Amur graylingsubspecies ("T. arcticus grubii"); it has also been classified as its own subspecies, "T. arcticus yaluensis." The spelling "T. jaluensis," while invalid, is encountered.The specific epithet, "yaluensis," derives from the name of the
Yalu River on theNorth Korea n–Chinese border.References
