He was drafted by the 49ers in the 1st round (7th overall) in the1994 NFL Draft .As of 2007 , Young was the last remaining player on the 49ers' active roster who was a part of theirSuper Bowl XXIX victory over theSan Diego Chargers in 1994. He had 89.5 career sacks. He wore the number 97 his whole career since college. He retired following the 2007 season.College years
Bryant Young attended the
University of Notre Dame , and he was a three-year starter. As a senior, he was anAll-America n selection, and had 6.5 sacks and 67 tackles. As a junior, he was an Honorable Mention All-American selection and garnered 7.5 sacks. Young was the final player coached by Lou Holtz to retire from the NFL. As of 2008, there are no players in the NFL from the Notre Dame football teams coached by Lou Holtz.External links
