Tom Corcoran

Thomas Joseph Corcoran (born May 23, 1939) is a former U.S. Representative from Illinois.

Born in Ottawa, LaSalle County, Illinois, Corcoran graduated from Marquette High School, Ottawa, Illinois, 1957. B.A., University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, 1961. Graduate work at University of Illinois, 1962.He was in the University of Chicago, 1963.He was in the Northwestern University, 1967.He was in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.He served as director, State of Illinois Office, Washington, D.C. from 1969 to 1972.He served as staff for Illinois Senate president from 1973 to 1974.He served as vice president, Chicago-North Western Transportation Co. from 1974 to 1976.

Corcoran was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-fifth and to the three succeeding Congresses and served until his resignation on November 28, 1984 (January 3, 1977-November 28, 1984).He was not a candidate for reelection in 1984 to the Ninety-ninth Congress but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the United States Senate.He was appointed to U.S. Synthetic Fuels Corporation, 1984.
