Vision 2025

Vision 2025

Vision 2025 was a proposition to increase Tulsa county's sales tax rate in order to fund capital improvements. On September 9, 2003 voters in Tulsa county approved a 13 year one cent increase in the sales tax rate. Proposition 1

The goal of proposition one was to attract the assembly plant for the Boeing 787 to Tulsa. Since Boeing chose Everett, Washington in December 2003, this part of the sales tax increase did not go into effect.

Proposition 2

This proposition provided American Airlines with $22.3 Million to upgrade its flagship maintenance facility in Tulsa. These investments were vital in retaining Tulsa's largest employer during difficult times for the airline industry.

Proposition 3

Totaling $350.3 Million, proposition three was the largest undertaking. It included enhancements to OU-Tulsa, OSU-Tulsa, Langston-Tulsa, NSU-Broken Arrow, and Tulsa Community College. Also money was provided for common education for all public schools in Tulsa county. A new Morton Health Clinic was built with funds as well. It also included funds for the renovation of the Tulsa Convention Center. The majority of tax dollars were dedicated toward the construction of the BOK Center.

Proposition 4

Allocated $157.4 Million for parks, area attractions, river improvements, and other county infrastructure. This included new community centers and improved county roads.
