Portland, Oregon , Korell attended the public schools andBishop Scott Academy in Portland. He graduated from the law department of theUniversity of Oregon in Eugene in 1910. He attendedYale Law School in 1911 and 1912.He was admitted to the bar in 1910 and commenced practice inPortland, Oregon . During the First World War served as a first lieutenant and captain in the Twelfth Regiment Infantry, Eighth Division, later being transferred to the Eighty-second Regiment Infantry, Sixteenth Division, and served from August 1917 until March 1919.He resumed the practice of law in Portland.He served as member of the State house of representatives 1923-1925.Korell was elected as a Republican to the Seventieth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Maurice E. Crumpacker.He was reelected to the Seventy-first Congress and served from
October 18 ,1927 , toMarch 3 ,1931 .He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress.He served as special assistant to the general counsel of theUnited States Treasury Department 1931-1943 and in the chief counsel's office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue 1943-1959.He lived inAlexandria, Virginia , until his death there onJune 7 ,1965 .He was interred inArlington National Cemetery .ource
