Timothy H. Porter (unknown - 1840) was a U.S. Representative from
New York .Born in
New Haven, Connecticut , Porter completed preparatory studies.He moved to New York and settled in Cattaraugus County.He served as member of the state assembly, 1816 and 1817. County judge of Cattaraugus County from 1817 to 1820.He studied law.He was admitted to the bar of Tioga and Cattaraugus Counties in 1819 and commenced practice inOlean, New York . First judge of the court of common pleas in 1819.He served as district attorney for Cattaraugus County, 1819, 1820, and 1824.He served in the state senate, 1823.Porter was elected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress (
March 4 ,1825 -March 3 ,1827 ).He resumed the practice of law inOlean, New York .He was again a member of the state senate 1828-1831 and of the state assembly in 1838 and 1840.He died in Olean Township, near the city ofOlean, New York , about 1840.He was interred in Mount View Cemetery,Olean, New York .ource
