Joseph H. Tuthill

Joseph Hasbrouck Tuthill (February 25, 1811 - July 27, 1877) was a U.S. Representative from New York, nephew of Selah Tuthill.

Born in Blooming Grove, New York, Tuthill attended common and private schools.He moved with his parents to Shawangunk, New York, in 1824.He engaged in mercantile and agricultural pursuits.He moved to New York City in 1828, and continued his mercantile pursuits.He moved to Ulsterville, New York, in 1832, where he engaged in business.He moved to Ellenville, New York, in 1834.He served as member of the Ulster County Board of Supervisors in 1842, 1843, 1861, 1862 from 1865 to 1870.He served as clerk of Ulster County 1843-1847.He served as president of the Ellenville Glass Works.He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1866 to Congress.

Tuthill was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second Congress (March 4, 1871-March 3, 1873).He died in Ellenville, New York, July 27, 1877.He was interred in Fantinekill Cemetery, near Ellenville, New York.
