Harish Patel

Harish Patel is an Indian actor. Although mainly associated with the stage, he has also appeared in films and on television. He began performing at the age of seven, when he played both male and female parts in the Hindu epic "Ramayana". In 1975, he joined the Indian National Theatre and did his first professional play "Neela Kamra".

From 1975 to 1981, Patel worked with the eminent Indian theatre director Satyadeo Dubey. His repertoire has included classical and modern Indian plays as well as plays by Western writers, e.g. Pinter's "The Caretaker", Sartre's "No Exit", Camus' "Cross Purpose", Ionesco's "The Lesson", and Mrozek's "Vrotislav". His acting career has taken him all over India. He has also performed abroad, in the UK, the USA and Dubai among others. In the spring of 2007, Patel took centre stage at the National Theatre in London, when he played the lead role of Eeshwar Dutt in "Rafta, Rafta...", a comedy written by Ayub Khan-Din and directed by Nicholas Hytner to critical acclaim and sellout crowds.

Patel is a Life Member of the Cine & Television Artistes' Association of India. His film credits include "The Buddha of Suburbia", "China Gate", "Mr India" and "Run, Fat Boy, Run".
