John J. Morgan

John J. Morgan

John Jordan Morgan (1770 - July 29, 1849) was a U.S. Representative from New York, father-in-law of John Adams Dix.

Born in Queens County, New York, Morgan attended the public schools.He served as member of the state assembly in 1819.

Morgan was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Seventeenth Congress and reelected as a Jacksonian Democratic-Republican to the Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1821-March 3, 1825).

Morgan was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Cornelius W. Lawrence and served from December 1, 1834, to March 3, 1835.He was again a member of the state assembly in 1836 and 1840.He died in Port Chester, New York, on July 29, 1849.He was interred in Trinity Churchyard, New York City.
