James William Husted (
March 16 ,1870 -January 2 ,1925 ) was a U.S. Representative fromNew York .Born in
Peekskill, New York as the son of James W. Husted, Husted attended private schools, thePeekskill Military Academy , andCutler's School , New York City.He was graduated fromPhillips Academy ,Andover, Massachusetts , in 1888, fromYale University in 1892, and from the New York Law School in 1894.He was admitted to the bar in 1894 and commenced practice inPeekskill, New York .He served as member of theNew York State Assembly 1895-1897.He moved to White Plains in 1897 and continued the practice of law.He returned to Peekskill in 1902 and again practiced law.He served as president of the village of Peekskill in 1903 and 1904.He served as member and treasurer of the board of park commissioners from 1909 to 1920.He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1912 to the Sixty-third Congress.Husted was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (
March 4 ,1915 -March 3 ,1923 ).He was not a candidate for renomination in 1922.He resumed the practice of law in Peekskill.He also engaged in banking and served as president of the Peekskill Bank.He died in New York CityJanuary 2 ,1925 .He remains were cremated.He was interred of ashes in Hillside Cemetery,Peekskill, New York .ource
