Francesca Archibugi

Francesca Archigubi (Rome, May 16, 1961) is an awarded Italian film director and script writer.

Biography

From 1980 to 1983 films short films such as come "La piccola avventura" (1981) about handicapped children, and she acts in "La caduta degli angeli ribelli" (1981) directed by Marco Tullio Giordana starred by Alida Valli. She films the short "Un sogno truffato" in (1984) with the couple Lualdi-Interlenghi and she acts as the neurotic intellectual woman in Giuseppe Bertolucci's film "Segreti, segreti" (1986), starred again by Alida Valli and with Rossana Podestà, Lea Massari, Lina Sastri and Stefania Sandrelli.

She wrote the script of "L'estate sta finendo" in (1987).

Her long film debut is "Mignon è partita" in (1988) a bitter portrait of family that talks about the first experiences and desillutions with teenagers loves. The film won 5 David di Donatello : Best New Director, Best Actress (Stefania Sandrelli), Best Supporting Actor ( Massimo Dapporto), Best Script and Best Sound. During the filming, she falls in love with her film music composer Battista Lena.

Her second film, "Verso sera" (1990) starred by Marcello Mastroianni and Sandrine Bonnaire is a success. It's named Best Film of the year at David di Donatellos.

Her third film, "The Great Pumpkin" ("Il grande cocomero") (1993) with Sergio Castellitto - Anna Galiena wins 2 David di Donatello as Best Film and Best Script and is another success.

In 1994 shots "Con gli occhi chiusi" based on a Federico Tozzi's novel. Starred by Laura Betti, Stefania Sandrelli, Sergio Castellitto and Debora Caprioglio. Her next films are "La strana storia della banda sonora" (1997) and "L'albero delle pere" (1998) .

Ornella Muti stars "Domani" in (2001) the film is about the earthkaque in Umbria in 1997. She collabores in "Pasolini-le ragioni di un sogno" (2001) film and she films Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Roberto Citran in "Lezioni di volo" (2005).
