February 3 ,1784 -June 1 ,1865 ) was a U.S. Representative fromNew York .Born in
Shekomeko, New York , Bockee attended the public schools.He was graduated fromUnion College ,Schenectady, New York , 1803.He studied law in Poughkeepsie.He was admitted to the bar in 1806 and practiced in Poughkeepsie until 1815, when he returned to Shekomeko.He engaged in agricultural pursuits.He served as member of the State assembly in 1820.Bockee was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first Congress (
March 4 ,1829 -March 3 ,1831 ).Bockee was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses (
March 4 ,1833 -March 3 ,1837 ).He served as chairman of the Committee on Agriculture (Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses).He served in the State senate 1840-1844.Bockee was elected judge of the court of errors in 1843. First judge of the Dutchess County Court in 1846.He died in
Shekomeko, New York ,June 1 ,1865 .He was interred on his estate near Shekomeko.References
