Fred Wampler (Congressman)

Fred Wampler (October 15, 1909 - June 8, 1999) was a U.S. Representative from Indiana.

Born in Carriers Mills, Illinois, Wampler B.A., Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, 1931. M.A., Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, 1940.He was in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and 1950-1954.He was in the United States Navy Reserve from 1946 to 1949 and 1954-1960.He was a teacher. Wampler was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-sixth Congress (January 3, 1959-January 3, 1961).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Eighty-seventh Congress in 1960.He was appointed to the Indiana-Illinois Wabash Valley Interstate Commission from 1961 to 1962.He was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the Eighty-eighth Congress in 1962. Regional Coordinator, Department of the Interior from 1963 to 1970. Coordinator, Ohio state Department of Natural Resources and Transportation from 1971 to 1976.He died on June 8, 1999, Mason, Indiana.He was interred in Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Indiana.
