William Frederick Kopp (
June 20 ,1869 -August 24 ,1938 ) was a U.S. Representative fromIowa .Born near
Dodgeville, Iowa , Kopp attended the common schools.He was graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College at Mount Pleasant in 1892 and from the law department of theUniversity of Iowa at Iowa City in 1894.He was admitted to the bar in 1894 and commenced practice inMount Pleasant, Iowa .He served as prosecuting attorney of Henry County 1895-1899. Postmaster of Mount Pleasant 1906-1914.He served as member of the board of trustees of Iowa Wesleyan College 1908-1938.He served as member of the State house of representatives 1915-1917.Kopp was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh and to the five succeeding Congresses (
March 4 ,1921 -March 3 ,1933 ).He served as chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of the Navy (Sixty-eighth Congress), Committee on Labor (Sixty-ninth through Seventy-first Congresses), Committee on Pensions (Seventy-first Congress).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1932 to the Seventy-third Congress.He engaged in the practice of law atMount Pleasant, Iowa , until his death there onAugust 24 ,1938 .He was interred in Forest Home Cemetery.References
