The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is a hospital in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It forms the Shrewsbury site for the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
The hospital was founded in 1979 following the closure of the Royal Salop Infirmary that occupied a position in the centre of Shrewsbury. The site of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital was already occupied by Copthorne Hospital and Copthorne Maternity Hospital which were situated either side of Mytton Oak Road. The Maternity Hospital had been opened in July 1968 by Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester.
The hospital underwent further expansion with the closure of the Eye, Nose and Throat Hospital, also situated in the centre of Shrewsbury.
In 2004 Copthorne Hospital closed and all departments transferred across Mytton Oak Road. The current hospital now occupies one site on the north side of Mytton Oak Road.
The hospital is linked to Keele University for the clinical training of medical students and also to Staffordshire University for nursing and midwifery training.
