Richard Menefee

Richard Hickman Menefee (December 4, 1809 - February 21, 1841) was a U.S. Representative from Kentucky.

Born in Owingsville, Kentucky, Menefee attended the public schools and was graduated from Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky.He taught school for several years.He studied law.He was admitted to the bar in 1830 and commenced practice in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.He was appointed as Commonwealth attorney in 1832.He served as member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1836 and 1837.

Menefee was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1837-March 3, 1839).He resumed the practice of law in Lexington.He died in Frankfort, Kentucky, February 21, 1841.He was interred in a private cemetery in Fayette County, Kentucky.He was reinterred in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky, October 28, 1893.
