The Academy of Our Lady was established in 2007. The school was created when
Archbishop Blenk High School and Immaculata High School merged. The school is for 8-12 grade and will be run by theSalesian Sisters .Controversy
Alumnae from both Blenk and Immaculata were outraged when the merger was announced, and many voiced their opinions through a (now defunct) website, www.stopthemerger.net. Adding to the confusion and anger concerning the proposed merger, was the apparent inability of the Archdiocese to decide on the location of the "new" school. Initially, Immaculata was to close its doors, and all students were to attend at the Archbishop Blenk location, at least until a completely new school was constructed in the future. The Archdiocese then changed plans, instead determining that both campuses would remain open, but under a new name. Finally, the decision was made to close Archbishop Blenk, after more than 46 years in operation as an award-winning Catholic high school for girls.
