The 1882 St. Louis Brown Stockings season was the first played by the professional baseball team based in St. Louis, Missouri now known as the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brown Stockings played in the American Association where they posted a 37-43 record during the season and finished in 5th place.
The team took its name from an earlier team that had played in St. Louis from 1875-1877 as a member of the National Association and then the National League. The Brown Stockings played at Sportsman's Park.
