Mark Sadler

Mark Sadler

Mark Sadler Is a senior media executive with over 17 years experience in both radio and television. He's skilled at programme origination and implementation as well as brand development and marketing.

He started his career as a broadcaster for Chiltern Radio in 1989 before moving to Birmingham to join Capital Radio in 1993 following their purchase of 96.4FM BRMB. During his time at BRMB Sadler took on broadcast duties in addition to overseeing station production before becoming Head of Music in 1995. He also produced the Les Ross Breakfast Show throughout his time at the station, picking up a gold Sony radio Award for the show in 1994, and helping steer the radio station from 4th to 1st in the market as well as helping produce the UK’s very first Party in the Park in 1993.

In 1996 Sadler moved to Brighton to take up his first management role as Programme Controller of Southern FM and South Coast Radio. Two years of sustained growth followed before Sadler exchanged Sussex for Hampshire in 1998, becoming Programme Controller of Power FM, Ocean FM and Capital Gold Hampshire. Sadler was promoted to the board of Ocean Radio Group in 2000 and became Regional Programme Director in early 2002 assuming additional responsibility for shaping the programming strategy, and managing through the programmers, the performance of Invicta FM and Southern FM and their respective gold services. During his 5 years in Hampshire Sadler achieved all time RAJAR highs for Power FM and Ocean FM as well as picking up a Sony gold radio award, two silvers and a bronze.

Sadler left Capital Radio in October 2002 to join MTV Networks UK & Ireland as Head of Music Programming. He was tasked with devising music strategy and policy for each of the five MTV branded channels, and by the end of 2002 he had assumed responsibility for all the remaining channels, namely the newly launched TMF, VH1 and VH1 Classic, and then went onto help launch VH2 a year later. In 2003 MTV Networks had its most successful year ever, regularly delivering market shares in excess of 54% and picking up the coveted Channel of the Year Award at the 2003 Edinburgh International Television Festival. Sadler was promoted to Director of Music in early 2005 before becoming Vice President, Music in April 2005.

In April 2006 Sadler returned to his radio roots, and moved to the Republic of Ireland, becoming Group Programme Director of UTV Radio Ireland and Programme Director at Dublin's Q102. On his arrival he moved quickly to implement a more focused music position, repositioning Dublin's Q102 as a soft/rhythmic AC mix, complete with a new personality led breakfast show, brand positioning and new marketing strategy. In the most recent set of JNLR audience figures, it appears that Q102 has achieved its primary objective of becoming #1 in its target demo and #2 in its secondary demo.

After almost two years in Ireland, Mark has recently returned to the UK to be closer to friends and family.
