Overview

Saint George Hospital is served by many physicians qualified from the Americas (USA, Canada), Europe (UK, France, Germany, Belgium) and Asia (Arab countries and Far East).

History

Saint George Hospital was founded in 1878 in Beirut. It is has a long history of collaboration with many medical schools. An alliance started with Saint Joseph University soon after Lebanon's independence, then the Lebanese University joined the association and continued until a coalition shift when the institution reallocated toward the University of Balamand, offering skills to the young generation of Lebanese physicians.

The present

The hospital is affiliated with the University of Balamand, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Toulouse, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Poitiers, the American Foundation for Saint George Hospital, Medicard, and the Foyer Saint Georges.

In 2005, a new state-of-the-art building was inaugurated. The rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 1968 building is underway (Phase II)- this new extension will house an additional 200 beds by the end of 2009, thus bringing the total number of beds to 400.
