History

Modern Telegraph originated as a custom Operations Support Systems (OSS) software development consultancy writing and deploying software for conferencing as well as online ordering systems. The consultancy was one of the first companies to develop online provisioning tools for PBX vendors and integrators based on overall call capacity, independent of telephone numbers.Fact|date=August 2008 The company evolved as a network aggregator to service the growing needs of its existing customer base.

The name Modern Telegraph was inspired by the words of Alexander Graham Bell in reference to Joseph Henry and the invention of the telephone from Henry’s work with the telegraph.Fact|date=August 2008 Alexander Graham Bell's quote follows: "But for Joseph Henry, I would never have gone ahead with the telephone."
