Of the Opera

Of the Opera began as a halfway house for Bock as he contemplated his next move after the demise of his former musical endeavor, Monday's Hero. It was a project that was pursued on the side while a member of The Firebird Band, and has now become Bock's sole musical effort.

Following the release of "Study Natural Law" he has played at high profile venues such as The Metro (Chicago) and the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in (Austin, Texas).

Early career

The Firebird Band

The Firebird Band is an indie rock band hailing from Chicago, Illinois. From 2005-2006 Bock toured with The Firebird Band and recorded guitars and keyboards on demos of 3 of the songs (unreleased) from the upcoming album this Fall 2007.

Moday's Hero

Monday's Hero was an Indie/Emo/Post-punk band from Chicago, Illinois. They were signed to Lucid Records out of Deerfield, Illinois. When Monday's Hero hooked up with Bock, it turned out to be exactly what the band needed to round out their unique and energetic indie rock sound. He played guitar and back-up vocals on"Love Carries an Axe" which was produced by Chris Broach (Braid, The Firebird Band, L'Spaerow).

Monday's Hero disbanded in 2005. Kyle Johns & Jay Warner have been on tour with Robert Bock, supporting his new solo project Of the Opera.

Mkshft

Is known to be the first band that Bock played in. He was the front-man until he joined Monday's Hero. They released "Caterwaul Effect" under this moniker.
