Onion Street

Onion Street

Onion Street is a school support site on the BBC website aimed at young people between the ages of 11 and 16. The site offers forum discussion on school work, revision and other areas of learning. The forum is pre-moderated, meaning that all posts are checked prior to them appearing live on the website. In addition, the Onion Street site contains advice articles and interactive games and applications on learning-related subjects.

The site was launched in October 2001 and was redesigned in January 2003. It forms part of a suite of BBC learning sites that includes Bitesize and Blast.

Alternative Onion Street

Members of the original Onion Street who disagreed with the BBC's policy of pre-moderation set up their own PHPbb site for the same purpose as the original; except without the pre-moderation. Although currently teething and with few members, a number are very active in the community.
