"Rodeo Days" is the 73rd episode in the FOX animated situation comedy "King of the Hill" and is the 12th episode of the fourth season. The title is based on the Woody Allen film "Radio Days".

Plot

Bobby with Hank's encouragement, enters a rodeo. While practicing, Bobby gets Joseph to enter the rodeo as well. However, Bobby's rodeo skill is outdone by Joseph who soon becomes a three buckle winner. Bobby is instead drawn to the role of the rodeo clown and convinces them to allow him to apprentice with them.

With both Hank and Peggy disapproving of rodeo clowns, Bobby keeps his new role a secret and the injuries he receives performing his duties as rodeo clown are seen by Hank as rodeo injuries and approved of. His days of a rodeo clown seem short-lived when he is discovered. Peggy confesses that her uncle whom she had played up as a rodeo cowboy was in fact a "drunken, stinkin' rodeo clown" and she blames herself.

While attending the rodeo as a spectator, Joseph is thrown from a bull and suffers a sprained ankle. The veteran rodeo clowns are rendered unconscious by the bull and it appears that Joseph is going to be gored. Bobby quickly borrows a large hat and scarf from an elderly woman to rescue his friend, but Hank stops him just long enough to borrow Peggy's lipstick, thus giving tacit approval of his son's new interest, finally seeing the usefulness of rodeo clowns.

Quotes

*Hank: Not only are you a rodeo clown, you're a thief. I don't know which is worse.... Rodeo clown.

*Hank: Cheer up Bobby, next to the cowboy and the man who straps the bull's genitals, there's no body more important than the friend cheering in the stand.

*Joseph: There's just room for one autograph.:Bobby: I'd rather have one of your buckles.:Joseph: Alright, but that doesn't make you my "Buckle Buddy".:Bobby: Oh, yes sir it does.
