Jana Kandarr (born
September 21 ,1976 inHalle (Saale) ) is a former German professional tennis player. Kandarr is notable for playing with her right hand, even though she is left-handed.Kandaar moved with her parents from Halle to
Karlsruhe after theGerman reunification . Her motherPetra Vogt was Sports Person of the Year in theGerman Democratic Republic (East Germany) in 1969. Jana Kandarr was practicing for some years inUnterhaching before she went professional in 1994.The biggest success of her 10 year-long career was her participation in the
Australian Open in 2000, where she made the final sixteen. Apart from that, she played in the semi-finals of the WTA tournaments of 1996 inPalermo and 2001 inEstoril . She reached her highest placing in the world ranking on June 11, 2001 - after a victory againstAmélie Mauresmo in the first round of theFrench Open , through which she reached the second round. After the tournament she was listed as 43rd.Jana Kandarr ended her professional carrier at the end of 2004. She is still playing tennis together with players like
Kveta Peschke andBianka Lamade in the women's tennis Bundesliga forTC 1899 Blau-Weiss Berlin .Having stopped school in 1996 to play tennis, she only graduated in 2000. From the winter semester of 2002/03, she has been studying
