Hebrew Cemetery of Richmond

The Hebrew Cemetery of Richmond is located at Fourth and Hospital Streets on historic Shockoe Hill in Richmond, Virginia. This Jewish cemetery, one of the oldest in the United States was founded in 1816. Among those interred here are Josephine Cohen Joel, who was well-known in Richmond in the early part of the 20th Century as the founder of the Richmond Art Company in downtown Richmond. Within this cemetery is located the The Cemetery for Hebrew Confederate Soldiers, which is the only Jewish cemetery for the military in the world outside the state of Israel.

Today the cemetery, is maintained by Congregation Beth Ahabah.
