The Galactic Golem was created by
Lex Luthor in one of his plots to destroySuperman . The Golem is an artificial creature that draws its energy from starlight. During its first battle with Superman, it releases so much energy that it appears to wipe out all life on Earth, leaving only Superman, the Golem, and Luthor. A remorseful Luthor discovers that the energy had safely shifted all Earth's inhabitants into a parallel world. After Superman manages to hurl the Golem into space, the Earth's inhabitants safely return to the correct plane of existence. The Galactic Golem returns in the story "Fury of the Energy-Eater!" in "Superman" #258 (November 1972) to fight Superman in his
Fortress of Solitude . Superman defeats the Golem by covering him in molten steel over the center of Earth's magnetic pole, which, when it hardens, imobilizes him, due to his lack of sustained energy combined with the magnetic force of the planet Earth. The Golem has made no further appearances.A new version of the Golem appears in "Superman" #675. [ [http://dccomics.com/comics/?cm=9130 DC Comics ] ] . This Galactic Golem is a creation of ancient
Daxamite science, sent to fight Superman by Daxamite priests who want to captureMon-El . With the help of the supervillain Paragon, Superman defeated the golem by destroying its power source; a model of Daxam itself in its forehead.Powers and abilities
The Galactic Golem has the ability to absorb stellar radiation, which in turn provides it with incredible strength and durability. Cutting off the Golem's access to this radiation renders it inert.
