Pindi Perunnal

Pindi Perunnal is one of the main festival celebrated by all the people in irinjalakkuda. It is done in the memory of St.Sebastaneos. It is a three day long celebration. It is celebrated in the second week after Christmas. The main celebrations will start on friday evening. The main attraction of Pindi Perunnal is the fireworks that will be conducted on sunday evening. Also there will be procession. The Irinjalakkuda Diocese is divided into different units and from each unit the procession will start and they will get together in the church. And there will be a small prayer and after that the fireworks will start.

And the people of Irinjalakkuda celebrate pindiperunnal very happily. In every home there will be guests. Also another feature is there. And all the people will put up a pindi (Plantain) with some decorations in front of their home. Also some lighting arrangements will be done. And they will be preparing special dishes (especially non-veg dishes). Also there is a competition in the decorating the pindi (Plantain).

And there will be special prayers conducted in churches coming under the main cathedral.

Every year all the people used to have a great time. All the people in Irinjalakkuda used to celebrate Pindi Perunnal.
