The 88th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, nicknamed the "2nd Board of Trade Regiment,"' was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The 88th Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Douglas, in Chicago, and mustered into Federal service on September 4, 1862.

The regiment was mustered out on June 9, 1865 and discharged at Chicago, Illinois on June 22, 1865.

Total strength and casualties

The regiment suffered 5 officers and 98 enlistedmen who were killed in action or who died of their wounds and 4 officers and 84 enlistedmen who died of disease, for a total of 191 fatalities.
