Buttocho

Buttocho (zh-stpw|w=Fu T'u-ch'eng|s=佛図澄|t=佛圖澄|p=Fú Túchéng, perhaps from Sanskrit "Buddhacinga", lived ca. 235-348) was a Buddhist monk from Kucha. He studied in Kashmir and came to Luoyang in 310, active in the spread of Buddhism in China.

He succeeded in converting Shi Le and became his advisor as he founded the Later Zhao dynasty in 319, and later a government official under Shi Hu, which allowed him to found a great number of Buddhist temples. Among hist disciples were Dao An, Chu Fa-t'ai, Fa-he and Fa-ch'ang.
