New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association - non-profit organization in Hong Kong providing rehabilitation services for recovered mental patients and mentally handicapped. Founded in 1959 by Doctor Stella Liu and group of ex-mental patients, initially was called New Life Mutual Aid Club. The Association's current CEO is Ms. Deborah Wan Lai-yau, BBS, JP.
In 1969, the Association became an affiliated organisation of the World Federation for Mental Health and a member of the Council of Social Services and, in 1970, a member of The Community Chest of Hong Kong.
The New Life Association helps in the psychiatric rehabilitation for the residential, vocational and social needs of its users. By 1997, the Association operated twenty-six units within Hong Kong.
Residential Services consist of eleven Halfway Houses, one Hostel, two Hostels for the Mentally Handicapped and two Long Stay Care Homes.
Vocational Services include five Industrial Workshops, an Agricultural Farm and a Supported Employment Service.
The Association has two Training and Activity Centres, an Aftercare Service and is involved in Public Education. It is sponsored by the Hong Kong government, grants from the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong Community Chest, service fees, and private citizens.[1]
There is also a Jockey Club New Life Institute of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
