- Treaty of Finckenstein
The Treaty of Finckenstein was concluded between
France and Persia (modern-dayIran ) in the castle ofFinckenstein (East Prussia ) onMay 4 ,1807 .Napoleon I guaranteed the integrity of Persia, recognized part of Georgia and other easternTranscaucasia as theShah 's possession, and was to make all possible efforts for restoring those territories to him. Napoleon also promised to furnish the Shah with arms, officers and workmen. France on his side required the Shah to declare war against theUnited Kingdom , to expel all Britons from Persia, and to come to an understanding with the Afghans with a view to a joint Franco-Perso-Afghan invasion ofIndia . Despite the Treaty of Finckenstein, France failed to win a diplomatic war around Persia and none of the terms of the treaty were realized. OnMarch 12 ,1809 , theUnited Kingdom signed a treaty with Persia forcing the French out of that country.ee also
