- Carvelle Manifesto
The Carvelle Manifesto was a document signed on the 26th April 1954 in
Saigon (nowHo Chi Minh City ) by 18 of the most prominent anti-communists in the city. The document was named after the hotel in which they met. The document criticised the lack of democracy inSouth Vietnam under PresidentNgo Dinh Diem and the concenteration of power within the Diem family. After theGeneva Accords anti-communist Diem ruled in South Vietnam in a dictatorial manner with US-backing, his support came from a richCatholic elite.
