Knockbridge ("Cnoc Bríde", "Bridget's Hill", in Irish) is a small village situated about 4.5 miles outside
Dundalk ,County Louth , inIreland .There are three
housing estate s, a church (St. Mary's), a largeprimary school , a shop, a takeaway, aGaelic football team (St. Brides GFC) and a successful hurling team. The village is centred on a crossroads, where there is apub and a shop.Stephenstown House, a large Victorian house, once owned by a branch of the
Fortescue family, now in ruins, stands beside theRiver Fane about a mile outside the village. Stephenstown Pond, about a hundred metres from the house, was refurbished recently. Knockbridge Church (St Mary's) has a number ofHarry Clarke designed stained-glass windows. Also nearby is the famousCuchulainn 's Stone which still stands, where the legendary hero is reputed to have died. Since 2000 it's parish priest has been Fr.Gerard McGinnity .External links
