The roots of Kanazawa University can be traced back to 1862 when the Kaga Domain established Hikoso Vaccination Center. Ishikawa Normal School, Kanazawa Higher Normal School, Ishikawa Youth Normal School, Kanazawa Medical School, and Kanazawa Technical College were integrated in May 1949 to form Kanazawa University.
