During his long involvement in the public service he was leader of Polish socialist movement in
Germany , member ofSejm , SeniorSejm Marshal and, for one day, Head of the Polish State as President of theState National Council .Trąbalski was born in
Czempiń inSilesia (then part of theKingdom of Prussia , laterGerman Empire ,Weimar Republic andThird Reich and, from 1945,Poland ).In 1893 he became a leader of Polish socialists in
Liepzig . The same year he joined PPS. From 1906 to 1909 he was a secretary within party leadership in Prussian part of Poland.He fought in the
Silesian Uprising , when part of Silesia was incorporated intoPoland after its independence was reestablished.From 1922 to 1939 Trąbalski served as a leader of all Polish socialists in Germany. In addition (1922-1937) he was a chief editor of "Głosu Ludu" (the voice of people) and "Związkowca".
After
World War II he became a leader of PPS in Silesia, and from 1945 to 1948 he was member of the party leadership.From 1947 to 1952 he was Sejm Member and served at the beginning as Senior Marshal (as oldest MP).
Because of this, for one day (
February 4 ,1947 ) he served as temporary President of the State National Council (head of state at this time).After PPS and PPR (Soviet-backed, communist party) were united, he became a member of the new
Polish United Workers' Party .References
