Paul-Marie Yembit (
22 December 1917 - 1979) was avice president ofGabon underLéon M'ba .A member of the
Bapounou people,Harvnb|Gardinier|1994|p=196] he was born atMoussambou [Harvnb|Darlington|Darlington|1968|p=126] and educated in local Catholic schools, then at the public secondary school ofLambaréné . He was a businessmen inMouila from 1943 to 1952, then was elected to theTerritorial Assembly , representingN'Gounié province. In March 1957, he was reelected to theLegislative Assembly . A member of theGabonese Democratic Bloc , he also became theMinister of Agriculture and Livestock in March 1957, later holding ministerial posts until becoming vice president in February 1961. M'ba replaced Yembit withOmar Bongo in November 1966, and had elections held the following year to confirm Bongo's position.Notes
