Bhindi Bazaar is located in South Mumbai. The origin of the name is unknown. However it literally means market of Bhindi ("Bhindi" means lady finger in Hindi). [http://www.bhindibazaar.com/index.cfm?menuitem=1]

Bhindi Bazaar is an area between Mohemmad Ali Road and Khetwadi.The closest central/ harbour railway station is Sandhurst Road and the closest western railway station is Grant Road.The bazaar is popular for shopping. Various kind of products are available in this market Like, vegetables, crookery and furniture.

There are other markets surrounding Bhindi Bazaar such as Crawford Market, Chor Bazaar, Nal Galli, Phule Market, and other small markets. Bhendi Bazaar is primarily a Muslim-populated area (particularly Dawoodi Bohras), but the shop-owners and hawkers in this market belong to different religious groups.
