Olympic medal record Men's polo Silver 1936 Berlin Team competition David Dawnay (July 10, 1903 – October 9, 1971) was a British polo player who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics.
He was part of the British polo team, which won the silver medal. He played both matches in the tournament, the first against Mexico and the final against Argentina.
Biography
David was the son of Major Hon. Hugh Dawnay and Lady Susan de la Poer Beresford. In 1926 David married Lady Katharine Nora de la Poer Beresford, daughter of Henry de la Poer Beresford, 6th Marquess of Waterford and Lady Beatrix Frances Petty-FitzMaurice.
David's son Major Hugh Dawnay is a well known polo player and respected coach. He is also the author of the books 'Polo Vision' and 'Playmaker Polo'[1].
David's grandson Sebastian Dawnay is also a professional polo player.
