May 16 ) is a prominent Syrianwriter andactor oftelevision ,film , and stage. Azmeh was born in the Syrian capital ofDamascus . The Syrian actor started his career acting on stage. Azmeh later acted in his firstfilm s. Azmeh achieved stardom when he started work on the "Maraya " (Arabic for "Mirrors") sitcom, one of the longest-running Arabic television comedy series, in the mid-1980s. Azmeh played the leading role in "Maraya" and took part in the writing of the series.
